  • Lots of 'flipping' fun!

    A little bit of fun to end a very busy half term! The children had a 'flipping' fantastic time this afternoon during the pancake races around the school field!

  • Canal River Trust educate pupils at Ysgol Gellifor about Water Safety!

    Ysgol Gellifor pupils had a visit today from Canal River Trust to educate them about how to spot the hazards of being near water and how to react in an emergency. There were some really sensible questions being asked by the children throughout the assembly. 

  • Make Some Noise visits Ysgol Gellifor!

    The Juniors got active this morning when they were joined by Catherine from Make Some Noise! The children sang and danced along to Bob Marley's song, Three Little Birds, before taking part in some drama activities.

    Next time, the children will be learning to play Samba Drums, as well as the Ukulele and the Glockenspiel.

  • Years 5 & 6 Visit Brynhyfryd for a morning of Local History.

    Years 5 & 6 enjoyed a morning of History at Ysgol Brynhyfryd, where they took part in lessons linking to Ruthin Gaol. During the first lesson the children looked at prisoners from Ruthin Gaol and identified who they were, how old they were and what occupations they had before becoming inmates!

    The last lesson the children carried out involved some Drama and History. The children listened to and talked about Prisoner William Barker, 1906, who was sent to Ruthin Gaol many times. During the drama activity everyone had the opportunity to take on character roles and were shown how to 'Tow the Line.'

    Thank you to the staff at Ysgol Brynhyfryd for organising such a fun morning for the children!

  • Mewn Cymeriad visits Ysgol Gellifor

    Years 1 to 6 had lots of fun with Llion from the Welsh drama group, Mewn Cymeriad. They all got involved during his show, The Welsh Language - What a Journey! Where they listened to the history of the Welsh language along with the Welsh Government's ambition to see 1 million Welsh speakers by 2050! Llawer o hwyl - Da iawn pawb!

  • Ruthin Christmas Market

    Come along and join us on Saturday morning, 3rd December, at 11am, where the children will be singing a selection of Christmas songs by the Clock Tower on Ruthin Square. They sound wonderful and have been practising really hard!

  • Watching the World Cup! Wales v Iran

    There was lots of excitement in school on Friday morning when everyone came together to watch Wales playing in the World Cup. 

    Everyone was very proud to stand together and sing the Welsh National Anthem, and everyone was in high spirits... until the final 2 minutes!

  • PC Llinos visits the Juniors

    The Juniors had a visit from PC Llinos on Friday morning where she discussed the theme Friend or Foe? Never go!

    During the session PC Llinos and the class discussed the key words Safe, Unsafe, Trust and Secrets.

    The children really got involved and came away with lots of important advice.

  • First Aid Training with Oliver and British Sign Language with Del

    This morning the Junior children learnt some vital skills, when they were joined by Oliver who taught them how to carry out CPR, how to help someone who is choking and how to treat burns.

    The children really enjoyed the sessions and worked sensibly and responsibly throughout.

    During the afternoon the children then worked with Del from British Sign Language foundation, and learnt to sign the Alphabet, as well as other everyday words and phrases before moving on to sing and sign the songs, I can sing a Rainbow, Happy Birthday and Stand By Me.

  • Lest We Forget - Remembrance Day 2022

    The children and staff at Ysgol Gellifor honoured all those who have given their lives whilst protecting their countries, during our Remembrance Day service. It was very moving to watch some of the children saluting the fallen during the 2 minute silence.

    The children have also been busy making some beautiful artwork to mark the special day as well as selling poppies during their break times every day this week.

    Well done pawb - We are so very proud of you all!
