  • School Closure Monday 19th September 2022 - Notice regarding the State funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

    Wed 14 Sep 2022

Following the extremely sad news last week regarding the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8th September 2022, we will be closed on Monday 19th September 2022, due to the State funeral.

The government has decided that the State Funeral will be a bank holiday. They have directed schools to close for the duration of that day like all normal bank holidays.

Their guidance states: ‘The official date of the State Funeral is Monday 19th September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and settings that are normally closed on a bank holiday should close on this day as a mark of respect. This will include schools and colleges.'

The country is now officially in a period of national mourning until the end of the state funeral on Monday 19th September 2022. However, this week there should be no interruption to attendance and school will be open as normal throughout this week. The government guidance states, ‘For schools and further education settings normal attendance is expected throughout the National Mourning period, other than the bank holiday’.
