Chinese New Year 2023

The Year of the Rabbit

Everyone celebrated Chinese New Year in style this week!

The Infants has lots of fun during their Outdoor Classroom work, where they carried out some Chinese Zodiac Yoga as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations. The children then made their own Chinese Dragons using different coloured tissue paper and glitter, which they loved making as well as moving and dancing with them like real Dragons! They also learnt to write their names using Chinese characters called Hanzi before tasting a variety of Chinese cuisine. They dined on spring rolls, noodles, sweet and sour chicken and chicken in a black bean sauce. Everyone tried all the different dishes. Da iawn pawb!

The Juniors also celebrated Chinese New Year in style with lots of different activities. First, they made a mixture for their own Chinese Street food, Chinese scallion pancakes, before frying them. Then, they ate them along with a selection of Chinese cuisine. They also looked at the meaning behind red envelopes and wrote their own wellbeing messages before competing in the Chopstick Challenge!
