Our World War 2 Day

Our World War 2 Day

Tuesday 8th March 2022

Dosbarth 2 had a great day on Tuesday, when they celebrated the end of their World War 2 topic in style! The children started off the day by writing a character description of themselves to persuade families that they would make the ideal evacuee! Then, they practiced some first aid techniques before singing along to a selection of Vera Lynne songs. They also worked out secret messages using Morse Code and Cryptography. During the afternoon Dosbarth 2 had two wonderful visitors, Rozel, Catrin and Megan's great grandma and Ian, Harry's dad. Rozel spoke to the class of her experience of life as an evacuee during WW2, whilst Ian talked to the children about soldiers and brought in some World War 2 artefacts. The children finished off the day by hosting their own VE Day party with cakes and biscuits which they baked themselves. Guests joined them in the afternoon as they danced to the swing and sang some songs. The children were amazing throughout and they all looked the part in their wonderful costumes. Well done and thank you to everyone!

Dosbarth 2 decided that they wanted to bake their own cakes and biscuits in preparation for the VE party during their World War 2 day.

Everyone took part in baking a selection of oat cakes, chocolate oaty biscuits and an eggless sponge cake using rationing recipes. The children were really impressed by how delicious they all tasted with having limited ingredients!

The children carried out some first aid skills during their World War 2 day, by learning how to put on a triangular bandage.

There were lots of giggles along the way, but they got there in the end!
